Viareggio is the most renowned seaside resort in Versilia. It is a summer tourist destination, as well as the whole Versilia, but it is also known for its Carnival and its allegoric floats. Viareggio is also an active industrial and craft centre, mainly for the shipbuilding industry, fishing and floriculture. It is possible to reach Viareggio taking the motorway A11 (Firenze-Mare), or follow the direction of the Aurelia main road after Migliarino. For those who arrive from the North, take the motorway A12 direction La Spezia-Livorno exit Viareggio. |
